The appropriation of visual art from the Western canon forms the foundation for this body of work. It is a reflection of the digital age with its blurred lines of originality and ownership while being veiled with lightheartedness and humor. Underneath the familiar motifs of mythology, internet culture, and celebrity deification, however, is a ground to ponder the ephemerality of beauty, power, fame, glamor, and youth.
Ironically, I render these narratives using classical and indirect oil painting techniques as a counterpoint to instant gratification.
